A Rock n’ Roll Rendition of Madonna’s “Like a Prayer”

Coming off our third LP Into the Night (2016), our band, Jeremy & the Harlequins, is currently exploring new sonic heights and songwriting techniques with our latest music – including singles “Little One,” “With You,” and now “Like a Prayer.” Last Spring we recorded in LA’s iconic Boyle Heights and legendary Beachwood Canyon with Rick Parker (Lord Huron, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Scott Weiland & The Wildabouts).

About a month before we went to Los Angeles to record in the studio we were walking in a bodega in NYC and Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” came on. We’ve heard the song a million times, but we had never paid too much attention to the lyrics until then. We went home and learned the song on the guitar and it reminded us more of a Roy Orbison tune than the original dance version we all know. We decided to record it because it was a song everyone knew that we felt we could totally flip, and those are our personal favorite types of songs to cover. Have a listen and let us know you think on Facebook and Instagram.
